I believe I left positive feedback...is writing a "review" something new? I'm not a movie critic.
An outstanding romantic film: "romantic" not so much in the sense of being exclusively about romantic love, but something more complex: Zhivago loves two women very much: his "cousin" who's not really related by blood but by family upbringing. When his mother dies when he is a young boy, with a father who has no part in the young child's life, the mother's best friends (with a young girl child of the same age as young Yuri Zhivago) grow up as brother & sister, predictably marry, have a child, and deal well with hardships imposed by the Russian Revolution. Dr. Zhivago's medical practice takes him somewhat unwillingly into the center of the medical hardships and human tragidies which follow in the deep social upheaval of Russia in the early 20th century. He meets and falls in love with a nurse, Lara, and gives his heart and his self in no less a loving way than his feelings and commitment toward his love for his wife Tanya. The romance is multi-personal... loving two women deeply but unable to control the larger events of their lives during the Russian revolution, with economic and social forces turned on their heads against the injustices of the centuries-old Russian stratified social world dominated by the landed and economically and politically dominent aristocracy. A wonderful movie...perhaps my favorite in this genre. I can't recommend it strongly enough - its history, its romantic love, its patriotism, and the predictable but nevertheless terribly sad ending.

Simple and says it all.
Wonderful film which I watched in the cinema many years ago. Great to be able to see it again. Omar Sharif and Julie Christie were awesome.

A TRUE CLASSIC
Dr. Z is a sweeping saga with a great love story thrown in. It was also a thinly vailed damnation of the evils of communism. The DVD itself was a listed in the auction and shipped super fast.

Best depiction of Russian revolution
Great cast & soundtrack & costumes for the era. This film also gives a very TRUE and realistic look at what really happens when a country adopts socialism & a share the wealth way of governing.

BETTER THAN NEW
I ordered a used DVD and got what was an apparently NEW one, still shrink-wrapped. Top-of-the-line quality and value and a perfectly re-mastered upgrade of this 1960s classic movie. Thanks!
