SynopsisI found myself wondering what would have happened if I had said yes. . . . Would she be alive today? Would we be together? Would we be happy? This is the story of a small-town kid who moved to the big city, fell in love with a beautiful, mysterious woman, and found himself in competition with the most eligible bachelor in the world, John F. Kennedy Jr. Now, for the first time, Michael Bergin reveals the truth behind a life lived in the limelight and a relationship shrouded in secrecy. From his early days growing up in a small blue-collar Connecticut town, to his meteoric rise as fashion icon and television star, to the passion he shared with the enigmatic and complex Carolyn Bessette, this is an inside look at the world of beauty, power, and celebrity. In 1992, Michael and Carolyn met in a bar in New York City. She was unlike any woman he had ever known -- sophisticated, successful, with bewitching charm and grace. An intensely passionate relationship was born. Not long after, Michael landed the coveted Calvin Klein underwear campaign, and his career took off. The future looked bright, and Carolyn and Michael seemed destined for a long and happy life together. But it was not to be. Four years later Michael was an international fashion icon and Carolyn was Mrs. John F. Kennedy Jr. -- however, the story doesn't end there. This is the truth about their lives, a tale full of warmth, humor, heartbreak, and tragedy. .Above all, The Other Man is a testament to the enduring power of love and a story about the painful choices we make with our all-too-human hearts.

  • I enjoyed it but.

The book has an easy flow with words.. it's an interesting book about a young boy growing up and the adventures that were brought to him due to his very good looks which as shown can be good and bad. I'm sure at 50something he's still cashing in on his looks to some degree. I do believe his version more than others concerning the main point of this book.

  • Definitely worth reading and recommended

Insightful, a good read and enjoyable, but also sad to have lost two great people at a young age as we all knew the outcome. Glad that the author has had a full & rewarding life.

  • The Other Man

Great read into the personal lives of Carolyns, and Michaels personal lives. Funny, loving, romantic, and sad all rolled into a story that compelled me to finish the book in just 2 days. ( I was ticked when interrupted ). Beautiful people have problems just like the rest of us ! Wondered who the girl was that won JFK JR'S heart. Thanks Michael ! ☺

  • The compelling love story of Michael Bergin & Carolyn.

Interesting read. The true story of the relationship between Michael & Carolyn & the price she paid in choosing financial security over love.

  • This book seems like a “give me my 15 minutes of fame” worst part is she is dead and can’t defend herself. Did she abort his baby?? His word onl

  • Writer writers mostly about himself and adds some gossip.

Michael Bergen writes almost solely about himself. He also states that he is “defending” Carolyn Kennedy. It does not seem so, as this book is mostly gossip, with description of Carolyn’s moods.

  • Well written

I feel this book was very well written. Michael Bergen wrote a true love story and gave a little insight into who Carolyn Besette was.

  • Carolyn s actions will surprise.

Carolyn definitely needed therapy. What a messed up girl she was.

  • A Lot of Hype for Nothing!

A lot of hype for information that was already out there. Mostly about Michael Bergen and not JFK, Jr and Carolyn.
