One of the most popular television shows of the 1980s, THE GOLDEN GIRLS was created by television writer Susan Harris (SOAP). The show centered on four elderly single women living in the same house together, all played by sitcom veterans: sensible Dorothy (Bea Arthur), sweet but stupid Rose (Betty White), lusty Blanche (Rue McClanahan), and Dorothy's outspoken mother Sophia (Estelle Getty). The program was nominated for many Emmy and Golden Globe awards, and was consistently in Nielsen's top 10 for its entire run, garnering both critical acclaim and public popularity. It also proved daring for its time, tackling sensitive political issues and for the mere fact it was a prime time show whose characters were much older than television's most desired demographic. THESE GIRLS ARE FOREVER GOLDEN!!!
I WATCHED THE GOLDEN GIRLS WHEN I WAS A KID WITH MY PARENTS. I THINK A LOT OF THE JOKES WERE OVER MY HEAD. I WATCH THE SHOWS NOW AND I ENJOY ALL OF THEM. THESE WERE THE FUNNIEST LADIES ON TV AT THE TIME. EVERY ONE OF THEM HAD A GREAT HISTORY OF TV SHOWS BY THE TIME THEY DID THE GOLDEN GIRLS. BEA ARTHUR, WAS MAUDE, WHO STARTED ON AN EPISODE OF ALL IN THE FAMILY. BETTY WHITE WAS ON TV WHEN IT WAS INVENTED. SHE HAD THE EARLIEST TV TALK SHOWS. RUE AND ESTELLE GETTY ROUND OUT THE CAST. IF YOU WANT TO RELAX AND ENJOY A FEW LAUGHS, GET THESE GOLDEN GIRLS TV SHOW SETS. THE SHOWS LOOK AMAZING AND THEY'RE COMPLETE AND UNCUT. NO COMMERCIALS! Love it!
I’ve been wanting The Golden Girls dvd for so long I’ve finally got it! Well...season 2 and it works perfectly! The packaging was great and the CD’s were in excellent condition! Now, I just have to wk on getting the other seasons! Thank you! 😊
