Awesome weather radio
I bought this AcuRite 08500 Weather Radio to replace the AcuRite 08550 portable radio that I'm going to use in my camper. Programing is very easy using the SAME codes found at the NWR Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME) page on the National Weather Service web page. More than one location can be programmed into the radio. The volume is adequate, and the sound is clear. These radios are no longer available from AcuRite so if you can find one, buy it.

It just works, and works, and works
Second one I owned, batteries leaked on first one, my fault not radios. Had it for over ten years worked every time there was an alert or warning without fail. Had to go back to what worked. It only takes a few minutes to set up with or without FIPS codes. It will wake you up!!!
