Pay a little more and get the Blu Ray?
While the DVD is half the price, the quality of this official product is totally not DVD quality. Maybe bec this series was only broadcast online, the picture quality is terrible. All scenes are pixelated enough to be noticed and quick camera action moves are blurry. And that’s being kind. That said, the first season is excellent and a great update to an iconic universe. It still feels like Trek but not stiff and stodgy like the new films. The tech is updated with a nod to all the wonder TOS gave is. Lovely to watch and well acted. I can’t wait for season two!

Good Show - Great Possibilities
Nice to see the new Star Trek universe - still trying to get "attached" to some of the players, but interesting. The different movies and tv shows cannot yet figure out what a Klingon looks like - seems to change all the time.

Worth every cent of the price.
I am a big time Trek fan, and this set was a really good price for a brand new sealed set. I am still watching it to get a feel for this new storyline.

I'm glad I waited until the DVD release.
Dark but decent, main character should have been prosecuted and again at the end of the season, no real sympathy for the character. Definitely a liberal slant. End of season resolution felt rushed and unbelievable (to say more would be a spoiler).

New discoveries
Yet another chapter to star trek yay goes where no other trek has gone before it seems it's one of those treks you either love it or loathe it don't want to give to much away but this season is Klingon heavy and a new way to sip about the stars i love it but I love all trek. It says region 1 but it plays on my region 2 sony DVD player which is illogical but none the less is a fact but i also bought gravity falls box set and this also is a region 1 DVD but plays on my region 2 player go figure. live long and prosper and go boldly where no one else has gone before and buy this excellent show 👿

An new/old edgier, adult Star Trek universe.
Star Trek Discovery is an adventure into a "new" Star Trek Universe, with characters who were and never were. The series us super high tech versus the TOS universe and rife with R rated topics and language. While short, ( less than half the episodes of a regular season), it's great fun and very eye pleasing. Minimal lens flares helps, too! If you can get both seasons, buy them and enjoy!

Good service quick shipping, got here before another DVD I ordered elsewhere before this one which still has not shown up. I agree with others, this Star Trek series looks to be absolutely awesome and the storyline, characters. Everything has been really fantastic. Special-effects effects, CG costumes, sets, everything is top-notch. I only wish it could have come in Blu-ray.

TO MUCH TALKING AND EMOTIONS AS IT GOES ON!!!
IF I REMEMBER RIGHT THIS CAME OUT INITIALLY YEARS AGO AND WAS CRITICIZED THEN FOR TO MUCH KLINGON SPEAK AMONG OTHER THINGS. I ALSO THINK THE STORY LINE IS SORT OF DETERIORATING AS IT GOES ON. TO MUCH TALKING AND EMOTIONS!!!

Twisty like a pretzel!
In addition to telling a whole new story with new characters, Season One revisits some familiar situations, characters and ideas from TOS and even Avatar and expands upon them. The Discovery has a J.J. Abrams reboot-style bridge and a super smart crew, but still no one is quite bright enough to have conceived of seat belts for space battles or circuit breakers so crew consoles don't explode in a shower of sparks. Just sayin'...

A good one to have!
This is a great addition to the Star Trek universe. It's also the first series to be set in the Kirk/Spock timeline, and the techs and graphics are even newer than the Chris Pine re-boots. The opening theme alone made this purchase worth it. This is obviously a big budget effort and commitment from CBS, and it shows. Nicholas Meyer of STIV and STVI is an executive consultant/producer as is Gene Roddenberry's son, Eugene Roddenberry. Lots of love and care went into this project, and it's very plain to see. My only neg is that I did not care for the re-invented looks and make-up of the Klingons. They went from the 'hairy men' of TOS to the bridge plate forehead, bad teeth of STNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise, to a 'Predator' looking re-invent in the Chris Pine re-boots, to now being completely hairless and almost serpentine-like. There is however, more direct Klingon language spoken here than ever before (for those who have learned the language), and if you've been waiting for a nude Klingon female scene (ever since Lursa and B'tor), they finally have one! All in all a good series!
