Good piece of professional equipment
No, this product is not better than what I expected. It is exactly what I expected, being as it is a replacement for my twelve year old one whose transmitter whose transmitter went out. There are other tracers out there, and I have some costing $1800. But this one is fast and simple to use and can find most faults fairly easy. Some extremely easy. I have used one for locating faults in 30 inches underground 250 feet from where it was hooked up plus other underground locations, following wires in walls/ceilings/floors to find faults. And a few times I could not locate the problem/s with it. And a few times I could not locate the problems with my high dollar Ideal tracer either. But for the price of one of these and what it can do it is well worth it and why I am purchased a second one. J W

Low Cost Cable Locator That Works
I did buy this as a used item, so there was reasonable wear of the case, but the equipment and cables inside were reasonably clear and free of any visible damage. I bought this to locate an electrical cable running from the post light in the front yard into the house on a newly acquired rental property. The line was cold (no hot on wire at post light.) I was easily able to find where the line came into the house and find the breaker. One thing I found, the locator works best when the transmitter is connected to the hot and neutral wires, not on the hot and a ground.

A great way to locate breaks in electrical lines and loops etc.
Used this device to locate a break in my underground electric loop for my Invisible Fence for my dogs. Works great.
