Downton Abbey's final season (6) is close to perfect. 4 Star entertainment
Downton Abbey is one of the best, if not the finest period dramatic series ever produced. Although the creator/writer, Julian Fellowes appears to have not put as much effort into the final season as the previous seasons, (a few of the character and plot lines appear rushed, and some character's actions are out of character) this is an excellent end to an amazing series. The acting is superb throughout the entire series. The depth of the character development is amazing and like any good story, many of the characters leave the story to become actual people you care about. In addition, the artistry of the outdoor scenery, interior sets and Highclere Castle all work together to make Downton Abbey 1st rate. One of the amazing aspects of the series is that there is enough good music, crime, ... Downton Abbey is one of the best, if not the finest period dramatic series ever produced. I purchased the entire series on DVD and have watched it from beginning to end before the start of each new season and I look forward to starting over in the near future along with friend who can't wait to being hooked. (Marathon/Binge viewing a great series is a fantastic waste of ones time, but so much fun.) Buy and watch Downton Abbey!!!

Downton Abbey--We'll miss you...
Every season of this program has left me & all of my friends eager for the next. Hearing that Season 6 was the end of this excellent series was a huge disappointment but as usual, it was a wonderful season. Not only did the story line continue moving forward, it had a very satisfying ending with the loose ends tied up. I dislike it when there are incomplete storylines as if the writers decided to give up rather than finish the job; whether it be books, movies or TV programs. The quality of the series started with the first episode & continued through the last. The attention to detail was mind-boggling. Every stitch in the clothing, every mannerism, every bit of aristocratic behavior was captured for the time period. The relationship between the household staff & the people "upstairs" was ... Every season of this program has left me & all of my friends eager for the next. Most of the action was about personal relationships with one another with some scenes taking place outside of the house. The characters were unique & of all age groups. It was accurate to how people really are. No clear-cut heroes, all had flaws in their personalities & behaviors. Loving the characters in spite of this was a natural. I'm so impressed with the attention to detail in historic events & how the characters reacted. It was a time in history with strict rules amongst all classes, enjoyable as well as sometimes shocking. It begins with the sinking of the Titanic & ends just before the period of WWII. I have purchased every season on DVD, as well as additional ones related to the making of this program. I'm going to miss all of these characters I've grown to love; some more than others just like in real life. I will enjoy watching it again as I see more attention to details I may have missed the first time around. I didn't think I'd like it because the English accent & phrasing & the time period but I quickly found it charming in the context it was used. It isn't a piece of fluff, it has substance. I recommend it highly for anyone who wants quality entertainment.

Well, I didn't know that this one is a used product that came originally from San Antonio, Texas. Besides, I'm also a fan of the complete "Downton Abbey" series that could help complete my DVD collection.

Happy, but has defect
Generally happy with this 5-disc set. We did have a problem on one disc, which has scratches and, consequently, paused frequently. Then the audio and video got out of sync, where the characters started speaking but the audio/voices lagged by a couple seconds. After awhile it began to sync and play correctly.

only one complaint
I love every aspect of this program. The characters, plots, scenery, etc. are brilliant and engaging. My one complaint is that the slip cover states that it contains the complete season six. To my strong disappointment, the season finale (season 6 episode 9) is not included.
