see this strictly for the historical nature of the action scenes.
flight scenes are historical and just having H H make it is worth checking it out. the story line and acting are painful to watch. i am a big fan of classic well made movies but this stuff is stilted and borders on being torture. long 10...15 min scenes of meaningless dribble rule here again and again till the action starts. i am a big fan of directors who get to the point. when the action does start,it is quite good. the bombing scene is amazing.flight scenes are historical and just having H H make it is worth checking it out. the story line and acting are painful to watch. i am a big fan of classic well made movies but this stuff is stilted and borders on being torture. long 10...15 min scenes of meaningless dribble rule here again and again till the action starts. i am a big fan of directors who get to the point. when the action does start,it is quite good. the bombing scene is amazing.

Classic World War I Movie
Saw the original B&W movie on an IMAX screen at the Air & Space Museum circa 1990. Actually sat with Douglas Fairbanks Jr (NASA Visitor) who knew all the actors in the film. The DVD looked like a smaller version of the IMAX film. Good picture quality and sound. A good buy.

If you love aviation, you will love this film. The War had only been over for 12 years when this came out. I imagine the final major dog fight scene were all WWI pilots and at least two dozen aircraft were involved. Real planes. Real men. No computers in 1930.The film is worth watching just for the aircraft! And I cannot think of any Director who could know aircraft better!! Thomas J.
