Blake Edwards's adaptation of Truman Capote's classic novella is ideally cast with Audrey Hepburn in the role of Holly Golightly. The free-spirited gamine darts about New York, feted by wealthy men drawn to her megawatt charm and elegance, hoping that the party will never end. After "shopping" in front of Tiffany's window, she meets aspiring writer Paul Varjak (George Peppard), and they begin a platonic friendship. "Sponsored" by an older woman (Patricia Neal) whose interest in the young man is more than literary, he can identify with her experience better than most, taking it upon himself to protect her from the worst aspects of city life. But she seems to need little protection from such friends as incarcerated mob boss Sally Tomato (Alan Reed), who pays her to carry messages to Sing Sing. With her infectious joi de vivre, she helps Paul break through a paralyzing case of writer's block. But when the genial Doc Golightly (Buddy Ebsen) appears in New York in search of Holly, the sources of her gossamer lifestyle suddenly become clearer. Edwards's lighter-than-air romantic comedy, set in a fantasy New York, rides on the irresistible charm of Hepburn at her peak, as well as a memorable score by Henry Mancini. Although George Axelrod's screenplay is as different from the original story as George Peppard is from the young Capote, the film succeeds on its own terms.

    Still An Entertaining Classic

    Whenever this is on TV I take time out to record and watch it. Of course the surroundings are dated but, the story is not. Audrey Hepburn (who, by the way, was taken from us way too soon) plays her part wonderfully while George Peppard is adequate. Mickey Rooney is hilarious, even though his part as a Japanese man is Politically incorrect for us now. Patricia Neal scores as the rich "patron" who supports Peppard as he works on his never-finished novel. Even Buddy Ebson (Beverly Hillbillies Jed Clampett) is present as an ex-husband of Holly Golightly. It's just a solid story of love and love lost and refound and, it ends just the way we want it to. The novel itself has a darker ending and Hollywood decided it needed the rainbows at the end to make it profitable. Haven't met anyone who ...

    Sweet Movie

    Breakfast at Tiffanys is a sweet movie from my past, I still with a big smile on my face ... beautiful Audrey Hepburn. A cat, named cat and music of of sound of Moon River, love a little tears from heart. Great story telling, all around. Great movie to watch.

    Breakfast At Tiffany's is an engaging story, if somewhat formulaic, of boy meets/gets/loses/gets/loses/gets girl.

    "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is an older movie I saw so many years ago that I was really too young to understand the plot line. In re-watching it, I had a better appreciation of the characters.

    This is one of my fav movies of all time; I love Audrey Hepburn and I own some of her memorabilia.

    This was my second attempt to get a working DVD of this title and it played just fine.
