Katsu Sheet Metal Sheer/Guillotine (200mm)
Bought to help make up repair panels as an alternative to grinder cutting disks, out of the box the handle which to be fair looks to be nothing more than thin exhaust pipe went straight in the junk pile and now use an old modified jack handle with more beef to it! Cuts well once bolted down, thin coke can ally is like butter, 1mm steel easy peasy, 2mm just about but doubt the "Hardened" Steel blade would last long? Sheet metal bench knife
I was very impressed with the performance of this very handy piece of equipment ! I am a sheet metal worker by trade ( 45 years) and I tested the knife by opening up a aluminium drinks can of about 3 thou thickness and easily cut a 2mm strip without it getting torn or pulled in between the blades, then cut that down the centre and achieved another perfect cut ! Again without any problem.. I will say this i did add a few more washes to take up slack in between the leavers and also hammered the end of the handle to make it a more snug fit ! but that was me just fine tuning as it works great without the need to do as i did. So for the comparatively low price against similar bench knifes on eBay and elsewhere I am Very, very pleased with my purchase 9.5/10 :-) I was very impressed with the performance of this very handy piece of equipment ! A robust heavy duty sheet metal shear with removeable tubular handle. Requires mounting on a bench or table and I used 25 mm thick plywood base plate to reinforce the table top fixed with nuts bolts and washers. its performance on 3 and 5 mm thick sheet is excellent. It would benefit from some instructions for assembling and use and their is no safety guard so care is needed to keep hands well clear of the cutting knife. Not the best quality. Rough castings, blade had a small chip, handle and all bolts are very loose fit. On the other side it's about 3 times cheaper then other shears on the market so you're getting what you pay for. I've managed to grind and resharpen the blade so it's all good, also few bushing for bolts would make all construction more rigid. You might be lucky and get a working cutter straight out of the box or after few hours of fiddling with it so for money i would recommend it.Not the best quality. For the price this works better than I had hoped for, bought for cutting mild steel and aluminium sheet and its more than capable. Works well when fixed firmly to a bench, would benefit from some instructions. The removable handle is a bit of an after thought as the fit is loose but it does the job, this could easily be made to fit more snugly if you have metal working and welding skills. You could spend more to get something that does not do the job any better.For the price this works better than I had hoped for, bought for cutting mild steel and aluminium sheet and its more than capable.
