A Class Act says it all!
Not only was William Haines a famous movie star in the late 1920's and early 30's, he walked away from Hollywood and transitioned into a brilliant designer after being told by Louis B. Mayer, "You loose the boyfriend or I will not renew your contract".
With his innate style, class and personality, for the next 40 years, "Billy" had no problem at all becoming THE Designer the stars, wealthy socialites, art patrons, and elite came to design their homes and furnishings.
This book has beautiful photos of his home and furniture designs for friend Joan Crawford (he nicknamed "Cranberry") the Warners, George Cukor, and many others.
Staunton, Virginia is home to Woodrow Wilson, and the Statler Brothers, but in my opinion, William Haines shines as the most resilient, talented Shenandoah Valley native to date!
