Product Information

Ron Guth

1907 was the second year of operation for the Denver Mint. In this year, Mint employees showed their worth by producing nearly four million Half Dollars, only 89,500 coins shy of the production of the San Framcisco Mint and over a million coins better than the number of coins produced at the "mother" Mint in Philadelphia. As a result, this is a common date and one which collectors can find with ease in just about any grade. Mint State examples are usually MS62 to MS64, with smaller populations in MS65 and MS66. MS67 examples are extremely rare. NGC has certified a single MS68, but the price record for this date goes to a PCGS MS67 that sold for $53,188 in 2009 (this colorful jewel is now in a PCGS MS67+ holder).

Most 1907-D Half Dollars show a strong strike and a rich, frosty luster.
Product Identifiers
