A priceless classic, MY FAIR LADY has become one of the most popular musicals of all time. Based on George Bernard Shaw's 1913 play PYGMALION, the film swept the Academy Awards. Cecil Beaton's lavish sets and costumes and Lerner and Loewe's winning score became the background for George Cukor's striking mix of styles that ranged from the fantastic to the abstract in his telling of the tale of a waif who's educated into being a lady. Egotistical linguist Professor Henry Higgins (Oscar-winning Rex Harrison) bets his friend, Colonel Hugh Pickering (Wilfrid Hyde-White), that he can transform Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle (Audrey Hepburn) in time for an important society ball. His gamble could pay off--but the spirited Eliza is more of a handful than the Professor could have predicted. As she slowly becomes more refined, and less reliant upon him, Higgins realizes, to his confusion, that he can't live without her. An accurate description of what the audience can expect to see.
This is the musical version of one of my favorite movies...Pygmalia. The cast in this movie were very believable in their roles and was a sneaky way of telling audiences that a lack of education and/or training does not have to be permanent. Grace and humor
"My Fair Lady" is based on a play "Pygmalion" by George Bernard Shaw. It translated very well into this Broadway worthy production for which Audrey Hepburn is forever an act to follow in her graceful and humorous interpretation of the plight of social class stigmas. The DVD came unopened and in very good condition. An everlasting work of total genius
Saw this on the big screen in 1965, and didn't fully appreciate the wit of the script, the subtle humor, the impeccable delivery by the actors, the choreography, the irony, the enduring music, the psychological undertones. The humor passed over me like a wave, were I ten feet underwater. My Fair Lady...the dream of many young women
Excellent movie. One of the first musicals I viewed as a young girl. It's old fashioned and some today would take exception to some of the style. My generation (Baby Boomers) love it. My fair lady and Audrey sure was a fair lady!!

Fantastic, engaging, movie.

Good quality classic movie
Very good movie overall. Clean and funny! There were some parts that were a bit silly or unrealistic. But all movies have flaws.
