Reviews
"Hanif Abdurraqib writes: You are, in part, who loves you . I've never read a book more full of love--heartbreaking, poetic, rapturous--than There's Always This Year . He loves basketball, his court, his block, his city, but most of all, his people, and he beautifully shares it in this indelible and mesmerizing book. Abdurraqib has written not only the most original sports book I've ever read, it's also one of the most moving books I've ever read, period. Utterly transcendent." --Steve James, director of Hoop Dreams, "Hanif Abdurraqib writes: You are, in part, who loves you . It's incredible. It's fat with emotion and love and earnestness and basketball, four of the very best things, packaged and delivered in a way that only Hanif can." --Shea Serrano, bestselling author of Basketball (and Other Things) "Lyrically stunning and profoundly moving, the confessional text wanders through a variety of topics without ever losing its vulnerability, insight, or focus . . . A formally inventive, gorgeously personal triumph." -- Kirkus Reviews "MacArthur fellow Abdurraqib follows his Carnegie Medal-winning A Little Devil in America with another unique, memoir-propelled, far-ranging, and affecting inquiry . . . Structured like a game in quarters and minutes, it's a galvanic drive through the intricacies of family, community, belief, and dreams . . . Abdurraqib keeps multiple balls in the air as he swerves, spins, and scores, and every thoughtfully considered and vividly described element and emotion, action and moment, ultimately, connects. An exhilarating, heartfelt, virtuoso, and profound performance." -- Booklist (starred review), "Hanif Abdurraqib writes: You are, in part, who loves you . Synopsis
LONGLISTED FOR THE NATIONAL BOOK AWARD - NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - #1 NATIONAL BESTSELLER - A "powerful" ( The Guardian ) reflection on basketball, life, and home--from the author of the National Book Award finalist A Little Devil in America "Mesmerizing . . . not only the most original sports book I've ever read but one of the most moving books I've ever read, period."--Steve James, director of Hoop Dreams ONE OF THE TEN BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR: Vulture, Chicago Public Library, BookPage A BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR: The New York Times Book Review, Time, The Washington Post, NPR, The Boston Globe, The New York Public Library, Chicago Public Library, Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, Book Riot, Electric Lit WINNER OF THE NATIONAL BOOK CRITICS CIRCLE AWARD Growing up in Columbus, Ohio, in the 1990s, Hanif Abdurraqib witnessed a golden era of basketball, one in which legends like LeBron James were forged and countless others weren't. His lifelong love of the game leads Abdurraqib into a lyrical, historical, and emotionally rich exploration of what it means to make it, who we think deserves success, the tension between excellence and expectation, and the very notion of role models, all of which he expertly weaves together with intimate, personal storytelling. "Here is where I would like to tell you about the form on my father's jump shot," Abdurraqib writes. "The truth, though, is that I saw my father shoot a basketball only one time." There's Always This Year is a triumph, brimming with joy, pain, solidarity, comfort, outrage, and hope. No matter the subject of his keen focus--whether it's basketball, or music, or performance--Hanif Abdurraqib's exquisite writing is always poetry, always profound, and always a clarion call to radically reimagine how we think about our culture, our country, and ourselves. Good Seller, shipping was quick, not totally as described as there is no photo of the back and when received had sticker on the back (wouldn't have bought if known), and there are a few minor tears in the plastic wrap around the game that weren't described as well. I am happy with the product and the cost, however a little disappointed with the description of the product not being accurate. Although still a good seller.. Thank you

The item was new as described. It was packaged securely. The seller was quick to respond to a question and shipped the item promptly. I received the item within a few days. The price was better than pretty much everyone else’s and was far better than most.

Made several purchases from this seller and always know what to expect. They always describe the item in an accurate way and if there are any flaws they list them or contact you to let you know. Also their shipping is very great as it is usually free. And they offer discounts on multiple items.
