Entertaining and educational
This travel documentary is excellent. Michael Palin handles everything that this trip can throw his way on this nonstop excursion around the globe. There were certainly plenty of fun, light-hearted moments and Mr. Palin of course used humor (and Monty Python charm) to help bridge the many cultures and make everyone have a great experience. He made many friends along the way. But, to accomplish his feat required that he stay on task and handle what was sometimes a logistics nightmare to arrange transportation in a reasonable time frame. I had seen it some years ago, but wanted a copy so I could watch it again and again. I thought the price for this new set was very fair and I am happy with my purchase. PS. If your a traveler - I highly recommended it as you will love it.
Very much enjoy this special in going around the world, as when it was done in 1988 that I was in Denmark, as I heard about this series when it was aired on the BBC Channel when I was in Denmark. I really did love it, as much of the other specials that Michael Palin has produce. I always take this DVD with me when I travel. I also recommend Palin's Hemingway Travels in which it travels to parts of Europe, and the US to his birthplace, to Africa, and Cuba as it is very interesting to watch. As Around the World just keeps you in your seat to see in what is going to happen next as he was not allowed to take Planes just Ships, and made in record time.. Python Palin Goes On Holiday
This is the first of python Michael Halen’s journeys around the world for the BBC. Aired way back in 1988, it holds up even today as a travel documentary. it’s also quite entertaining to see Palen successfully, circumnavigate the globe without using aircraft in 80 days, including crossing the red sea by way of a dhow— a simple wooden boat with a three-stroke engine and an enthusiastic crew of Gujeratis.
