Reviews
This is a timely contribution to the field because it addresses the accelerating progress in pediatric psychopharmacology since the first edition. By bringing together a distinguished team of leading experts, the editors have done an outstanding job of attaining their objective., For the first edition: "A comprehensive and well-written book on psychopharmacology in children and adolescents that has the potential to be of use to all levels of training and experience. . . Like its older sibling, the Comprehensive Textbook of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, this book is off to a good start. And with its family history, it has no choice but to be a huge and long-lasting success." --Journal of Child and Adolescent PsychopharmacologyFor the first edition: "...the first comprehensive volume in child and adolescent psychiatry that brings together, in one exhaustive and well-referenced tome, an integration of the current knowledge in the burgeoning field of pediatric psychopharmacology and neurobiology as it impacts the treatment of children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders...Pediatric Psychopharmacology may well find its place on the bookshelves, alongside other reference volumes, of all who treat children and adolescents withpsychiatric disorders...an invaluable resource that summarizes in concise detail the state-of-the-art knowledge base of neurobiology and psychopharmacology for pediatric patients while integrating it into aframework that considers the total patient in a much broader treatment context."--Journal of Clinical PsychiatryFor the first edition: "...each chapter of this well-edited book maintains the essential developmental perspective on symptoms and treatments relevant to children and adolescents. I hope that Pediatric Psychopharmacology and the work that it represents will allow for the thoughtful, scientific adoption of pediatric psychopharmacology, rather than leave it in the nether lands of clinical science. It may even lead to an end to some of the controversies, ambivalence, pseudoscience, and false beliefs about treatingchildren and adolescents who have serious psychiatric illnesses." --New England Journal of MedicineFor the first edition: ". . . an enormous editorial feat . . . well arranged, well organized, and easy to read . . will be appreciated by many in the field. It would be a very useful and well-appreciated reference volume for anybody treating children and adolescents." --The American Journal of Psychiatry"The updated chapters discuss the advances in the introduction of more user-friendly compounds that result in fewer adverse drug interactions and easier dosing regimens." -- Doody's"The second edition of Pediatric Psychopharmacology provides a comprehensive review and update of the evidence base in this complex and rapidly growing field. It also strives to discuss the role of psychopharmacology within a developmental and biopsychosocial context, while highlighting the value of nonpharmacological interventions. To my knowledge, no other textbook matches it on either count." -- Daniel A. Gorman, MD, FRCPC, University of Toronto"This textbook succeeds in being a comprehensive resource on the topic of pediatric psychopharmacology... This thorough recapitulation of where pediatric psychopharmacology is today would make an excellent addition to one's library." -- Robert L. Synopsis
When the first edition of Pediatric Psychopharmacology published in 2002, it filled a void in child and adolescent psychiatry and quickly establishing itself as the definitive text-reference in pediatric psychopharmacology. While numerous short, clinically focused paperbacks have been published since then, no competitors with the scholarly breadth, depth, and luster of this volume have emerged. In the second edition, Christopher Kratochvil, MD, a highly respected expert in pediatric psychopharmacology, joins the outstanding editorial team led by Dr. Martin and Dr. Scahill. In the new edition, the editors streamline the flow of information to reflect the growth in scientific data since the first edition appeared. The overall structure of the book remains the same, with major sections on underlying biology; somatic interventions; assessment and treatment; and special considerations., When the first edition of Pediatric Psychopharmacology published in 2002, it filled a void in child and adolescent psychiatry and quickly established itself as the definitive text-reference in pediatric psychopharmacology. Package was a little slow in shipping initially, so I contacted the seller and they graciously upgraded the shipping to 2-day. The book got here quickly and it was in the "new" condition that was claimed. You often learn the most about people when they are challenged and have the opportunity to either rise to the challenge, or not. So in that respect, they passed the test with flying colors. All in all a good experience, thank you.

I actually had to return the item as the picture and the description did not match. There was nothing wrong with the item. It was just a different book than we thought it was. The seller was wonderful to work with. There was no hesitation to refund it when we figured out what went wrong. I would strongly recommend this seller.
