Director Ron Howard delivers his finest effort with his extraordinary film, A BEAUTIFUL MIND, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2001. Based loosely on Sylvia Nasar's acclaimed biography of mathematician John Forbes Nash, the film is a compelling look at one man's genius, his debilitating mental illness, and the fine line between the two. A BEAUTIFUL MIND begins with Nash (Russell Crowe) at Princeton, where he struggles to think of an original idea, and the stroke of genius that will make him matter. Nash is eccentric, socially awkward, and extremely competitive. Eventually, he finds the inspiration for his innovative and influential work on game theory. He's chosen for a post at MIT, which includes crucial code-breaking work for the US government. There, he meets a beautiful and brilliant student, Alicia (Jennifer Connelly). They marry but their happiness is threatened, as Nash, belatedly diagnosed as schizophrenic, descends into madness. Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman cannily condenses Nash's story, and the film manages to dramatize both Nash's mathematical brilliance and his schizophrenia in a compellingly visual manner. Crowe delivers a strong performance, and has real chemistry with Connelly. The two make the film's story about the power of love believable and moving.

    Blu ray arrived quickly and is in great shape, like new, as described by the seller. It was packaged securely in a cardboard sleeve and that was in a bubble mailer. The seller put a piece of bubble wrap on the inside to prevent the disc coming of its spindle, as this happens alot during transit. I also appreciate the seller giving me a good deal on the item. Thank you for a pleasant transaction!

    One of the most professionally created movies ever.

    I purchased the movie to educate myself in order to help people with mental issues, including schizophrenia. The story was engaging and somewhat confusing at first since many of the scenes were through the eyes of the afflicted main character, but as it progressed, it all made sense. The cinematography was high end, and the actors chosen were as good as it gets. The movie has a happy ending after years of misery for those directly impacted by the main character's illness. It left me with a feeling of hope in general, not just the issue of mental illness. After this movie set into my mind, I realized that we need to be more compassionate, caring, and patient with those suffering from any problem in our society today.

    Great watching

    It is a very good video. We enjoyed it. Good to watch if you are working with someone who has a similar problem. It can show them they can work passed their problem with help and will power.

    Engaging

    If you know anyone with schizophrenia or are just interested in learning more, this movie can be an engaging exploration into the mind. The cast is very good and brings a great sense of reality to the watcher.
