The dynamic range of the incoming guitar signal is suitably compressed by this Compressor/Sustainer Pedal for a dynamic sound range, suited for pro audio recording, production, and live performances. Electro Harmonix Soul Preacher Compressor Guitar Pedal is a fine compressor for guitar and bass, which comes with 3 selectable attacks. Fast attack results in an aggressive, fast, and musical hit. With the medium attack of this effects pedal the rise is slow, smooth, and defined. Finally with the slower attack the rise is much softer. This Compressor/Sustainer Pedal features a LED which is lit when the pedal is engaged, and is unlit when bypassed.

    A compressor that makes sense

    The compressor/sustainer concept for many of us is a mystery. If you watch You Tube on the subject most guys will say so. This pedal makes it simple to use and get a sound that is useful. You can discover your own applications, use it as a boost, just leave it on the entire time to create your sound. I've used it on my acoustic when I need to play solos. Basically it evens the volume between your high and low strings and by increasing the Sustain knob and changing the attack you get all sorts of variations. I can get a tight punchy sound for my electric. There are more complicated compressor/sustainer pedals out there for those who like to mess with settings but I don't. Remember, as you increase the Sustain the volume drops but you then can compensate with the volume knob. It's very quiet ...

    Professional player

    This pedal is a little noisy but all comp pedals are. This is a more squishy comp pedal. I use this pedal essentially for a little lead boost. I turn the comp almost all the way off. It's nice to have a little boost for my lead but that's it. I use the black finger tube comp and it's much more smooth and a more usable pedal. They missed the boat on this pedal. If you gotta have a comp pedal don't get this one.

    Nice compressor

    Works as expected and a good value. This particular compressor has a lot of gaiin and provides secondary adjustment on the circuit board which has a big effect on overdrive and distortion. The control is touchy and not addressed in the manual. I recalibrated mine for unity gain with the outside control at 12 o clock. This provided s cleaner compression with far less “dirt”.

    Good Compressor

    Compressor works well, but as with many, is a little noisy when used before your OD/Dist pedals. This isn't a big deal for a live situation but wouldn't be usable in the studio.

    Good Pedal

    Decent compression pedal that does what you would expect. The attack switch is fun to experiment with. The pedal is fairly noisy however so if your amp is already noisy it could get ugly.
