    Great old school functional cooking tool

    OK, I use this for several types of food and tea making. 1) Put under my glass tea pot to keep from breaking, and spread the heat. Old trick my grandma taught me... 2) Put a roast on it, and in a deep pot and slow cook all day, awesome. This is very sturdy, true cast iron and will out live us all.

    This really helped

    Bought this cast iron trivet to use in the bottom of my deep dutch oven. It fit perfectly and raised the food I was baking off the bottom enough to get air circulation and prevent burned food. Cast iron is not the easiest cookware to take care of with having to oil it to prevent rusting (which rusting can happen overnight I found out). But this little item did exactly what it was supposed to do in the oven.

    Nice trivet.

    I haven't used this yet but I have seasoned it a bit more. As most newer Lodge products are, it is a bit rough when new. I seasoned it some more with flaxseed oil and it is getting pretty slick. I want it non-stick in case I'm cooking biscuits in it. As usual, it is a bit heavy since it is cast iron. It seems to be well made and I expect many decades of use from it. It is almost exactly 8" in diameter. Counting the little dimples it might be a 1/4" wider there. It fits in a 5 qt cast iron dutch oven I got at a local discount store perfectly. I have both the dome lid and the coal type dutch oven. May pick up another one of these later on.

    cast iron trivit

    Quality USA made product at a low price. Using it for something it was not designed for, but works great at. Have a Duxtop induction cooktop that I use C.I. trivet instead of the usual more expensive and poorly rated aluminum clad heat transfer plates when using nonmagnetic pots, etc. It works great, heats up instantly, and stays hot forever. As expected, it does take a lot longer to heat than the pots or pans that are made for induction cooking. Not a problem for me.

    Exactly as expected

    Fits the Dutch oven perfectly. Performs as expected/described. Using this accessory prevents having to "babysit" the Dutch oven as it cooks and begins to accumulate natural juices and liquids at the bottom of the pot. Cleanup is quick and easy. This item arrived preseasoned. A quick rinse with hot water and it's ready to use.
