That tube is long enough to accommodate a quarter inch rubber washer and a metric nut and we applied silicone to the outside. I'm thinking the cups could be screwed through a smaller hole if drilled to fit rather than retrofitting. I bought enough to try that next year. The chickens took to the cups readily as opposed to the nipples.

The package arrived even though the shipper's tracking information still said the package was over 700 miles away and not moving. GFY...didn't offer to check with their distributer, whos' inventory is surely wrong due to I ordered same item from another seller...received same white shelves...FROM THE SAME DISTRIBUTER. No follow through from this seller to correct issue as they should. Bad thing is...the last few years buying on Ebay, I seem to have encountered more S#!TY sellers then I did 15 years ago. BUYER BEWARE WITH THIS SELLER
