Synopsis
The Tarrasch Defense to the Queens Gambit Declined, which arises after 1. d4 d5 2. c4 e6 3. Nc3 c5 is one of the most flexible systems at Blacks disposal. It has been played by Paul Keres and by World Chess Champions Boris Spassky and Garry Kasparov. This new edition adds a number of illustrative games featuring many of the key variations. Taken into consideration are the recommendations for White in the repertoire books by John Watson and Larry Kaufmann. In general, the theory of the opening has not changed much since the original book and the Tarrasch Defense remains a reliable weapon for Black.
