I took a chance buying this
It was inexpensive. It worked on batteries, and it has an on and off button. It also has a light to help illuminate the tip area. So I bought a big pack of batteries to go with it, not expecting the batteries to last very long. I tinned about 11 wires and it wouldnt melt solder. I changed the batteries and it was good to go. After about the same usage, it needed batteries again. I changed the batteries and it wouldn't work after that. I made sure I was putting the (four AA batteries) in correctly, because the + and - is very difficult to see on the inside of the battery compartment. Still wouldn't work. I took the batteries out and put another set of fresh batteries in it. It didn't work. The batteries got hot, but the tip of the iron didn't. I claim it is not worth buying, unless you want to take a chance, like I did. I lost-gambling on this made in China cordless soldering iron. P.S. You have to pry the battery compartment open; it does not open with your thumb, like you would think.
