Hideo Kojima's complex saga starring the iconic Snake returns with more open-world exploration and online multiplayer action in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Set in 1984, nine years after the events of Ground Zeroes, the action finds Snake in Soviet-occupied Afghanistan attempting to track down the mysterious Cipher intelligence network that sent him into a coma, and rescue his friend Kazuhira Miller from Soviet forces. Metal Gear Online 3 is also included in The Phantom Pain to let up to 16 gamers compete in a variety of multiplayer modes on large, open maps.<br><br>The Phantom Pain continues the franchise's signature stealth-action gameplay, with players possessing maps, binoculars, and the beloved cardboard box to avoid detection, and non-lethal weapons like tranquilizer darts to end conflicts quietly. Of course, some encounters require a more violent resolution, and Snake is once again equipped with powerful weapons, grenades, and close-quarters combat skills. The expanded open-world environments open up new gameplay options, including traveling on horseback, scaling rock faces, requesting helicopter support, and getting help from new AI allies like Quiet the sniper, and the trained wolf D.D.<br><br>Realistic day/night cycles and weather patterns have been introduced to give the action more variety, and several features from Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker have been resurrected and upgraded in The Phantom Pain. Players can once again build a home base and use resources they collect while exploring to upgrade Snake's weapons and abilities, and the Fulton surface-to-air recovery system returns to let gamers transport items, animals, vehicles, and captured foes back to the base.

    Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain

    Bought this for my son who is a big Metal Gear Fan. This game has some really great graphics, the gameplay is great. You are the Big Boss and you go around infiltrating other areas, "recruiting" mercenaries by pretty kidnapping them or shanghaiing them to your team. It looks like fun, at least I had fun watching my son play this. If you like Metal Gear Solid, or good action games, don't pass this up.

    Incredible Gamine Experience

    Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain is what all the other metal gear games have been building to and refining the gameplay mechanics. What your left with in the phantom pain is an incredibly easy yet deep control scheme and mix that with a huge open world that spans 2 huge locations the opportunity for different mission approaches and completions is all tailored to how you play. Then add Mother base F.O.B. missions and online multiplayer this is what all games should come packed with for full retail price. You will not regret this purchase and will enjoy countless hours of gameplay.

    large game with compelling story and characters

    The game is extremely engaging and has a lot of content to do. Missions can be a little bit copy-pasted like extracting skilled soldiers and lost prisoners but overall is very fun. A wide range of characters to interact with and interesting stories to observe and listen to.

    Beyond expectations

    Gameplay isn't linear AT ALL. First open world MGS game expertly incorporates the idea of a huge environment with plenty to do across it's map and progressively enables the player more and more infiltration possibilities the further they progress through the main story and scattered Side OPs. I haven't had this much fun with an MGS game ever since Peace Walker hit the PSP. Truly a fantastic game.
