This bundle from SOE and LucasArts lets new players start off with all three contemporary retail releases for the persistent-world online game Star Wars Galaxies, including the title's first two retail expansion packs, Jump to Lightspeed and Rage of the Wookiees.<br><br>As in genre-founding "MMORPGs" such as EverQuest and Asheron's Call, Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided has players begin by creating an online personality, choosing their character's race, appearance, and profession. They then join a game world populated by hundreds, if not thousands of other human-controlled characters. Unlike other massively multiplayer games, however, LucasArts' virtual worlds are set in the sci-fi Star Wars universe. Players can take the role of a Mon Calimari artisan, for example, or play as a Rodian marksman. They may join the Rebel Alliance, swear fealty to the Empire, or decide to remain neutral.<br><br>Jump to Lightspeed, the first retail expansion package for Star Wars Galaxies, adds the option of autonomous space travel to the persistent world RPG. Players can pilot personal, interstellar spacecraft that allow them access to new species, new worlds, and new challenges. Deep-space dog-fighting -- a staple of the beloved film series -- also becomes available with the Jump to Lightspeed. The add-on adds new character classes, mostly focused on piloting and ship maintenance skills. Accomplished player characters can gain access to a larger ship which is intended to be operated by more than one person at a time.<br><br>The second retail expansion for Star Wars Galaxies, Rage of the Wookiees, offers additional weapons, armor and equipment, more ships and ship modifications, a planet full of fresh story-driven quests, and a revamped combat system designed to balance gameplay for all participants. Released in the same time window as the technically conclusive Episode III feature film, the add-on pays due attention to plot details and new Star Wars mythology revealed in the movie. In particular, the game expands upon the culture of the Wookiees and adds their ancestral home world of Kashyyk to the online galaxy.

    Star Wars MMO game

    I think the best game ever made. Only played as an emulator as it was shut down by Lucasarts to make room in the market for SWTOR. The game as run by Sony turned into a mess through a number of generations. But many players feel the earlier versions were the best and the emulators reflect this. If you are interested in playing this you must have one of the copies of the original game, then Google SWGEMU, finding a server for play could be confusing. The server I play on is Warfront and is a halfway point from easy to tough server, with friendly staff and players. This game will challenge you and emerse you in the Star Wars Galaxy.

    Star Wars Galaxies

    There is only one server, not many people know about it. Graphics are fair for an old game. Price is a little high for these reasons. Overall a good game.

    Star Wars Galaxies

    A game ahead of its time, SWG was the most diverse and deep game I have ever played. After it’s shut down, fans have managed to revive it in various forms, and I continue to be delighted.

    Loved the game when it came out. Found out some servers still run it.

    Ahead of its time

    This was the most immersive game play ever developed until the kiddies cried about it being too hard and Sony ruined it. Fortunately there is a Emu server now so the game lives on!
