Modern update to a classic Tamiya kit
In decades past Tamiya was the Kit Manufacturer to go to for the best detailed kits. One of their earlier models was the M10 tank destroyer. Earlier Tamiya kits were motorized as details suffered accordingly. Now Tamiya has revisited their old M10 and have completely replaced that venerable old kit with a brand new release. Tamiya has released many Sherman hulled kits but lately they've really gone out of their way to update their designs and really give the modelers what they want... A well detailed kit at a good price. I paid $34.99 for this kit which is in the right price range for a kit of this size and detail. What you get in the box: 8 sprues in olive drab, one sprue in clear, two runs of T51 rubber block track, 8 polycaps 1 string for the tow cable, and a decal set with markings for ... What you get in the box: 8 sprues in olive drab, one sprue in clear, two runs of T51 rubber block track, 8 polycaps 1 string for the tow cable, and a decal set with markings for two different vehicles for a total of 347 parts. There is minimal flash and the parts are well molded. My example shows fully molded parts with minimal sinkholes or ejector pin marks in visible places. The Hull is broken down into the individual plates instead of the old bathtub style hull which allows for better detailing on the hull plates. While this might seem to invite a misaligned or warped hull when assembled, Tamiya has made everything to positively align, the plates pretty much clicking into place. Tamiya has also fixed one of the main complaints about their Sherman kits... They included the track sponsons so that you cannot see clear through the model when looking down through the hatches. Follow the directions and you can't go wrong. One of the problems with previous kits of the M10 has been the turret not being accurately molded. Tamiya's new kit has one of the most accurately molded turrets of any kit of the M10 on the market. The kit has a full gun and turret interior to include the fighting compartment floor but that's as far as the interior detailing goes. There is no driver's compartment interior in this kit. On the plus side, you get a combat crew of three figures, a gunner, looking through the sight and adjusting the elevation and traverse mechanism, a Loader loading a round into the gun and a commander looking through his binoculars. The tracks are of the soft rubber 'rubber band' type and represent the early T51 rubber block track without the molded on chevrons. The tracks are accurately molded and are glueable with regular model cement. The finished kit is 196mm long and 88mm wide when finished.

Another Great Kit from Tamiya.
Can't say enough about this kit. Excellent mold, easy to follow instructions and everything fits to a T. If you want to add to your WWII USA armor, this is a kit for you. It would be even better if an interior was included but then the price would go up too. This is still a great model without the interior.

Great kit, but does not include a drivers compartment. You have to use the crew members, or you can see the empty hull. You might want to use the interior parts from an Academy kit to fill in the void if you don't want to use the crew.

This is not a product. It is a left over from a model kit construction. It has no quality that could be tested as a standout item on its own. Good efficient delivery though.
