This product is great for checking string tensions after you have been playing with your racket for a while.
It checks both main and cross strings for tension. It doesn't have to be 100% accurate to let you know when your racket has lost it's tension. Lost tension over time means less control and the ball will fly off the racket wildly. The best part about this product is that you don't have to be a stringer to have one.
Surprising how strings that feel and sound tight really aren't. Haven't taken any raquets that I tested to be restrung, but will be interesting to see how much better they play with properly tensioned strings.
I have been wanting this tester ever since I started stringing my own racquets. It’s amazing how much tension is lost between string jobs. Ten pounds was lost in an eight week period on one racquet but the rest of them had smaller losses.
Only measures a relative scale for tension not lbs.
Since rackets are strung in #'s, I thought this too was calibrated in pounds......no it is not!! This gives you only an idea of whether strings are of similar tension. Not what I wanted.
