I was delighted to find 3 dozen hymns I already know, and dozens more in the key of C or G and with simple, repeated phrases that makes the hymns easy to play, teach and learn. Though our parish is not predominantly Afro-American, I think this will be our "go-to" hymnal. It speaks to our common heritage and experience as Americans of faith.
Very happy to have this well-researched, well-harmonized collection of classic spirituals. A worthy addition to the library of anyone who enjoys such music.
