Thief: Deadly Shadows has players slipping into the leather boots of Garrett, a thief who earns his living by slinking into the homes of aristocrats and pilfering their valuables. Played primarily from a first-person perspective, players must navigate the City, a sprawling medieval landscape filled with castles, mansions, cathedrals, dungeons, museums, and more. The goal is to sneak into these buildings without being detected, which means hiding in the shadows, snuffing out candles with well-aimed arrows, picking locks, and blinding foes with flash bombs. Garrett can also scale walls using special climbing gloves, which can be viewed onscreen at all times. The development team at Ion Storm (Deus Ex, Anachronox) refers to this inclusion as "body awareness," allowing players to see hands and feet while climbing, peeking around corners, and picking locks to suggest a sense of placement within the 3D world. It is also possible to switch to a third-person perspective at nearly any time, for an immediate sense of the character's place in his surroundings. Awareness within the gothic environments is important if not essential, since Garrett will have to deal with guards, thugs, monsters, and more during his pursuits.Product Identifiers

Sound is Handled Really Well
Amazing sound design. To date, there is hardly any game that can compare to its directional sound; it's easy to discern exactly where a sound is coming from. The voice actor did a great job in adding a sense of place through his narration. Gameplay is grounded with a few detours into fantasy. Shalebridge Cradle is very teriffying for the right reason—the immersion the game builds up to this point is intact, the premise of going there is gripping, the slight tweaks to the atmosphere, the mere voice of the girl is scary. Has a sequel teaser, which years later was fulfulled. Although, it's a shame they didn't use the original voice actor for Garrett in it.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Love this game!
I played Thief Gold, Thief the Metal Age, now the last Installment. I got so good with Metal Age, I could create my own. But Directx kept evolving to the point It randomly crashes. Pity. Heard a rumor that you could launch a Directx engine. It would select the Directx you needed. Can't find anything like it. This version uses doll physics. You blackjack, or kill a character in game.
