Powerful with all the features
This my second one. I've had another for 3 years now and it continues to do everything I need it to. This new one will power the track for my upcoming remote control system. I've owned a couple of Lionel 80 watt too but the Z 1000 seems to give better performance at low speeds. Now I use the Lionels to power the accessories and infra red controllers.

the better transformer
It is the only transformer that work whit 50 and 60 Hz.,Im using whit lionel and MTH O gauge and not problems whit the sound or bell using a regular transformer 220 volt to 110 volt and every thing is working fine . After traiting Lionel CW 80 watts and lionel 1033 75 watts transformer . Thanks MTH for give the soluttion to the this BIG problems.

Perfect transformer for a large setup
Amazing transformer: very powerful, got the 14v DC output, manual breaker switch (so you don't have to change circuit breakers!), on/off switch. I love it. Was easy to hook up to my Fastrack.

MTH 40-1000 Transformer
Lots of power! Nice that it also has a 14 volt accesory output. The quick acting circuit breaker is great also. Easy to reset (just push the button), and provides peace of mind!

When rheostat set to zero, low level of ...
When rheostat set to zero, low level of power continues through the track. Happily not enough to keep engines running, but enough to keep modern locomotive’s sound active. This is an easy work around, so I’m happy.

Powerful
The transformer is powerful and work well with Lionchief plus Loco. Still trying to get the horn and bell to work . My only complaint is about the control handle. It seems loose and not as sturdy as Lionel CW80. Will try it out on the 6 yr old boy and see how it holds up. May just be me.

Great Transformer
This was recommended to me by another hobbyist. It has separate horn and bell buttons, something that my old K-Line transformer lacked. The power brick weighs a ton. Smooth performance so far!

works like its supposed to
I am a newbie when it comes to model railroading. Having had my first train 70 years ago I am just experiencing it new. So I don't feel comfortable making judgement on train products. I am very satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it.

Awesome Power for 3-rail O-Guage Locomotives!
This transformer works with everything 3-rail O-Gauge. I have an old Lionel transformer that I bought in the 1960's that was supposed to be a decent power pack at the time. I have an old Lionel 4-6-4 No. 665 with a Pennsylvania tender with a whistle in it. This engine would never put out too much, especially with a heavy load. I could barely get it to move around the layout. When I connected this power supply to the track, this locomotive would do anything that I asked it to! I never knew how much power it really had! The whistle button works with this unit as well, and doesn't cause an extra boost of power to the locomotive when you push it like the old Lionel transformer did. I am really pleased with this product and would highly recommend it!

Good all around controller/ power brick combo
I got this mostly to provide power for my accessories on my O gauge layout. The power source brick will handle most small to mid-size layouts. I mostly run DCS with some vintage on the side (run by vintage transformers). But for the times I want to run a modern, non DCS, locomotive (Weaver, Williams, etc.), the Z-1000 is a great controller.
