Synopsis
There is an alternative to the vicious circle of chemical fertilizers: to garden in a way that strengthens, rather than destroys, the soil food web--the complex world of soil-dwelling organisms whose interactions create a nurturing environment for plants., "A breakthrough book. No comprehensive horticultural library should be without it." -- American Gardener When we use chemical fertilizers, we injure the microbial life that sustains plants, and then become increasingly dependent on an arsenal of toxic substances. Teaming with Microbes offers an alternative to this vicious circle, and details how to garden in a way that strengthens, rather than destroys, the soil food web. You'll discover that healthy soil is teeming with life--not just earthworms and insects, but a staggering multitude of bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms. This must-have guide is for everyone, from those devoted to organic gardening techniques to weekend gardeners who simply want to grow healthy plants without resorting to chemicals.

S+, ☆/10, incredible seller, wonderful experience. 500 characters aren't enough to sing their praises. Purchase really made my year. Practicalities first- What I ordered doesn't seem to be shop's usual fare, eg, resin Adeptas Sororitas listed as Space Marines. But seller was a delight, answered questions quickly, securely wrapped and shipped the order fast (w/ dice and mini's foam packaging), and even threw in stunning BONUSES. Quality better than pictured, great price! Was so lucky to find them

Juicy's fulfilled sent my Thermoflask bottle set within only a few hours of my payment. What more can you ask? The product arrived quickly, before the originally predicted date, and in brand new condition as described. The water bottle set was carefully packed. The price was so low, I am not sure how the seller made money! I'll take it anyway! And will do business with this seller again.

  • Good book but may have limited audience

It is a great book and I plan to acquire companion volumes (e.g. Fungi, Nutrients). However, it may be of interest to a relatively small number of readers who are interested in the symbiotic relationships of plants to microbes, fungi, and insects.

  • Somehow I got a signed copy !

Great book explaining microbes to all of us in language that is easy to understand. This is the best book out there on this topic. I received a signed copy somehow and I’ll cherish this book.

  • Great Read and Reference

You are in for a good read. Not too technical, not like a textbook, its like passionate soil scientists explaining the how newest discoveries of the underworld work. You will be amazed at the micro level about how we are doing it wrong (growing crops and gardens). This is a total, complete eye opener about inner space just like the Hubble telescope was for outer space. You will need to be pretty geeky to enjoy it, it goes into some deep explanations (not theory or equations).
