Over 12,000 helicopters were used in the Vietnam War, which is why it became known as "The Helicopter War." Almost half of the helicopters, 5,086, were lost. Excellent read!
This book gives a great idea of the lives of Viet Nan era helicopter pilots. The times of comradship, sheer terror and bravery paint an interesting picture of the service of these true heros. I worked with a pilot from the 101st Cav. He was a great guy who bore plenty of scars from his combat duty. Thank God for guys like these, willing to risk their necks to save their brothers in arms. The Cobra is different from other helicopters
This is an excellent read if you have ever flown helicopters but never flew the Cobra- it is a different animal. the best book ever!
This book is the best! Its so well written and easy to read. I wanted to read it in one day, but had to put it down to think about what I read. My brother in law flew a Huey , served 2 tours in Nam, got shot down twice, but lived! He's my hero. I had no idea until I read this book how important he was. U.S. Infantry and Marine's Best "Friend".
The Helicopter and Helicopter Pilots were and ARE the Infantry soldiers best friend. I am one of those "Ruck and Rifle" guys that saw combat in Vietnam.
