Synopsis
As Climate Change Continues to intensify, the outlook for life on Earth often seems bleak. Yet we can find hope in the "rescue effect," nature's innate ability to persist during hard times. Like a thermostat starting the air conditioning when a room gets too warm, the rescue effect automatically kicks in when organisms are stressed. In this book, Michael Mehta Webster reveals the science behind nature's resilience, through compelling stories of species adapting to our changing world: tigers in the jungles of India, cichlid fish in the great lakes of Africa, and corals in the Caribbean. In some cases, like the mountain pygmy-possum in Australia, species may be lost without our help. We are not only observers to species declines; we are often also the cause. In choosing whether are how to help, we must navigate challenging questions about emerging technologies and the ethics of conservation. Ultimately, there are good reasons to expect a bright future. Everywhere we look, we see evidence that nature can rescue species from extinction. When nature alone is not up to the task, we can help. Combining rigorous research with gripping storytelling. The Rescue Effect provides the cautious optimism we need to help save life on Earth., In the face of climate change and other environmental threats, this testament to Earth's resilience "makes a convincing case the natural world still has a lot worth fighting for" ( New York Times bestselling author Paul Greenberg). I Was Concerned At 1st, When Finding The Package N My Mail Box, As I Heard It Rattle, So, Not 2 Agrivate It Any Further, I Was Very Careful Upon Opening It, As I Found That The DVD Was Loose, & Not On The Hub Within The DVD Case. From My Past Xperiences, This Is Usually A Bad Sign, As The DVD's R Usually Scratched, But Luckily, This 1 Still Arrived N Xcellent Cond. I Highly Recommend This 'Saved' Seller! 👍Robocop (DVD, 1998, Criterion Collection - OUT OF PRINT) w/ Manual *LIKE NEW* (Nr. 257003342058)
- 8***k (3783)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufFar and away the ugliest seller I have encountered in more than 20 years. (eBay tells me it's 21.) Sent a book described as good, but it was underlined IN INK from cover to cover!!! Mistakes can happen, but this seller ignored three emails, and when I submitted photos and asked for a full $21.39 refund for this worthless book, I was offered $4.99. She just wanted to get me irritated all over again. When eBay intervened and saw photos, a full refund was immediate. Avoid her like the plague!
- a***t (794)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letztes JahrBestätigter KaufShipping: Shipped the day of the sale; arrived in 5 days in my city, but then the post office sent my package to Colorado. It took another 10 days to get delivered. Packaging: as expected As described: described as NEW. The books do look NEW until you at the page edges which are tanned to almost yellow. Books were probably never read, but they probably sat in sunlight for a long time. Value: Despite yellow-tan page edges, these books were a great value.Lot Of 4 Inspector Maigret Novels (Trade PB) by Georges Simenon - BRAND NEW! (Nr. 256759728931)
