Miniature trucks, a mountain of fun!
These little truck kits from Tamiya are pure fun, and offer a lot of potential in a small package. The truck goes together easily with modest skills, and can be ready to run in about 30 minutes. It uses 2 "AA" batteries and will run for about 20 to 30 minutes (on brand name batteries). There are good sticker type decals that come with these trucks, but they can be modified or painted however you choose. Kits are available (separately) to modify these trucks with faster or stronger motors, gears, tires, etc. They can be taken outdoors and played with in the dirt, gravel, and even snow, and have a lot of power for a small truck. The on/off switch is under the front and easily accessible, the tires are high-grip and soft, and they come with a wheelie bar and hub studs for trick driving and stunts. They also have real 4x4 (four wheel drive) and require no controller to operate. There are no wires, glue, solder, or special tools needed to assemble and run these trucks. However, a hobby knife is recommended to cleanly cut out the parts from the sprues, and a small pair of scissors and tweezers are handy for trimming the sticker decals for more precise application. These are extremely fun, tough, and very easy to build. I purchased mine from omnimodels on eBay, but many are available from Japan with a 2 to 4 week delivery time.
