BIG WEDNESDAY follows the lives of Matt (Jan-Michael Vincent), Jack (William Katt), and Leroy (Gary Busey), three young Californians who live to surf. Together, the boys ride the waves, throw beach parties, and, of course, get into scrapes. However, as the years go by, the trio must contend with the escalating war in Vietnam and embark on the painful road to maturity.Although director and screenwriter John Milius usually dwells in a macho world of action, his meditation on the waning of youthful dreams, partially based on his own childhood, is surprisingly heartfelt. While the film depicts the close friendship shared by Matt, Jack, and Leroy, it also does justice to their favorite pastime with stunningly photographed surfing sequences. Widely considered to be one of the best surfer movies of all time, BIG WEDNESDAY pinpoints a specific era with pitch-perfect skill and nostalgia.

    A Lost Classic

    Too bad this is hard to find - Big Wednesday is an engaging film (movie) that has always been a favorite of mine. It is about friendship - and how the friendships of our youth shape us throughout our lives. It is full of laughs and honest portrayals of guys who are different but love and respect each other --- plus the surfing is pretty cool.

    "The Ultimate Surf Drama"

    This is the only Surf movie where Guys are sensitive & Macho at the same time ...and it works thanks to Writer/Director John Millius. Jan M. Vincent is at his best here along with M. Katz and Garey Busey who play the 3 lead surfrer/friends. The character Bear plays the older mentor for these 3 Amigos and the film moves nicely between victory and heartbreak better than a Beach Boy song! (Love them too). This film is a little spendy cause it's out of print. I paid under 30 dollars for mine used. This movie is about a great time gone by...don't miss a chance to get it if you can. -samuraitim

    Big Wednesday

    This movie is great. It got a lukewarm reception when it first came out - but time has proved it to be a classic.
