I have a 2007 v4.5 as well but all battery covers for the connection fit interchangeably so if it did not fit the v3 it won’t fit the 4.5. This was shipped from outside the United States so I’m unaware if other countries had different tamagotchi models maybe that could be the reason it didn’t fit.
