Hoya 58mm HD Hardened Glass 8-Layer Multi-Coated Digital Circular Polarizer (PL) Filter allows you to remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water and glass and they also improve color saturation clarity and contrast. This threaded filter is often used to increase the contrast and saturation in blue skies and white clouds for example. Hoyas polarizing filters do not affect the overall color balance of a shot and they will provide protection for your lens while shooting. Hardened Optical Glass that has 4 times the breaking strength in ANSI standardized testing (ANSI Z80.3 : 2001) where steel balls of varying size and weight were dropped from a height of 50 inches onto the glass. Newly developed industry leading Hardened 8-Layer Multi-Coating yields an average light transmission rate of 99.35% between 400 and 700nm (visible spectrum). These coatings greatly reduce reflections off the surface of the glass allowing you to capture more light in your photos. As with all HOYA multi-coatings HD HMC is applied in a furnace at high heat bonding the coating to the surface of the glass. This process is called hard coating and it is far more durable than other coating techniques. The chemistry of the top layer is formulated not just to be more durable but to be resistant to oil stains. This means that finger prints and other oils are much easier to remove.     It took quite a long time for the repairs and the communications seemed a bit "stand-off-ish" but they did a good job on the repair and it's great to have my Marantz 3250 back in working order. An itemized invoice was provided but if any parts were replaced they were not returned to me when the unit was sent back repaired. I'm just happy to have the unit in working order again. Thanks! I recommend the seller state that the repair time can be substantial if repair is expected exceed 30 days.

    High quality filter for the price - would recommend

    Updated to 4 stars... I was looking for a quality filter for my SLR film camera's that don't break the bank. Despite it being labeled "Digital", which usually denotes it's designed for DSLR's, etc., Hoya's website description for this filter appeared to be of a high quality AR-MC filter. So far shooting with it has been great... now I'm waiting to finish the 2nd roll using it. *******Even though it's a thin filter, I can still clip my lens cap on. Which is a big plus! Rotation of the filter could be a little smoother but maybe it just needs to be worked in some. *******Despite my initial thoughts, the claim that it transmits more light appears to be true. Looks like only +1 stop extra, instead of the usual +1 2/3 stop *******All in all, despite this being one of Hoya's lower filter line ...

    Operationally awkward, very good optics...

    Front element on this filter is very stiff to rotate, causing all my zoom lenses to creep when I adjust it. Much prefer my Hoya Pro circular polarizer which does not have this problem (and is cheaper as well). However, this HD model is a half to full stop faster than the Pro version. You decide!
