One of three volumes that form an overview of the three most important instruments in the Blues: The guitar, the piano and the harmonica. Without these instruments the development of Blues throughout the 20th Century would have been very difficult. Both the guitar and the harmonica were cheap to buy or easy to crudely make. Pianos were installed in all clubs and juke joints and recording studios. These volumes feature some of the greatest exponents of these instruments. Tracks here include "Davidson County Blues" (DeFord Bailey), "Sonny Boy's Jump" (Sonny Boy Williamson), "Shake Down" (Sonny Terry), "Devil in the Woodpile" (Noah Lewis) and "Trouble Blues (Jaybird Coleman).
