Francois Ozon's YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL stars Marine Vacth as Isabelle, a seventeen-year-old on a summer holiday with her family when she loses her virginity. After an unexpected event, Isabelle's mother learns of the girl's secret life, causing a great amount of conflict between everyone in the family, and leading to complications between Isabelle and her stepfather. Meanwhile, Isabelle's younger half-brother wrestles with puberty.

    Why give sex away when you can get paid for it

    This film just really captured my imagination. Technically based on a true story (or several) it's a film about about students turning to prostitution as a way of surviving college. At the time of filming it was estimated around 45,000 French teens were doing it. An extremely well written but not sensationalist insight to why it was happening. If you like thought provoking films this is well worth a view. Another film along the same lines was a made for TV film called Student Services which covers the same ground but is a bit more explicit in its sexual content (even though it was made for French TV) Both films are very good.

    Loved it

    This film kept me intrigued all the way through, didn't get bored watching it. Another really good movie from Francois orzon I have five of his movies and never fails to let us down. Loved Charlotte Rampling innit though she wasn't in it for long.
