    Mixed impressions

    I should begin this review by saying that I am an amateur, and I understand that this spray is used by professional librarians. I ordered it for a valuable publication from the 1950 that was printed on highly acidic paper. It is falling apart, so that the acid needed to be neutralized. The 5.3 oz can contained just enough spray to treat one large-format magazine of about 20 pages; so it is quite expensive. Since the spray is not water-based and leaves no trace on the paper, it was difficult to see the effects of the treatment. My point is: it was hard to judge what areas had been treated sufficiently. Ultimately, only time will tell if the product is good or not. I do assume, though, that it will help my magazine survive a bit longer.

    Bookkeeper is very limited

    This is the first time I've used Bookkeeper. I wanted to deacidify an antique paper map but the results were disappointing. I didn't see any improvement in the paper. It was still brittle and I had to use extreme care when handling it even after it had dried. I've used other deacidification sprays in the past, most notably Wei'to, which apparently is no longer available. Bookkeeper doesn't go far given the small amount in the bottle and the price doesn't warrant any more attempts at deacidification. I noticed the solution didn't spray evenly or produce a mist to make it last longer. For what you get, make sure your document is worth the expense of using Bookkeeper to help preserve it.

    Nozzle is problematic

    The product is good but nozzle did not spray a consistent fine mist and would have dribbles, otherwise i'd rate 5 stars.
