This cpu combined with a z170a motherboard and the right BIOS found online can be overclocked to over 4Ghz. I use a Msi z170a and have overclocked and use this cpu everyday at 4.19ghz no problem combined with a cooler master hyper evo cooler. The Temps never look to high even while benchmarking. A good review on YouTube look for Digital Foundry where they compare several cpu's and the 6500 comes out with flying colours.

I know it is a bit old but this processor is still very good for gaming even for today’s new games. Pair it up with AMD RX580 or NVidia GTX1070 and you still can please most of the games in top frame rates
