Product Information

With unsettling beauty and intelligence, this Golden Man Booker Prize-winning novel traces the intersection of four damaged lives in an abandoned Italian villa at the end of World War II. The nurse Hana, exhausted by death, obsessively tends to her last surviving patient. Caravaggio, the thief, tries to reimagine who he is, now that his hands are hopelessly maimed. The Indian sapper Kip searches for hidden bombs in a landscape where nothing is safe but himself. And at the center of his labyrinth lies the English patient, nameless and hideously burned, a man who is both a riddle and a provocation to his companions--and whose memories of suffering, rescue, and betrayal illuminate this book like flashes of heat lightning.

I purchased a 2023 Sega Dreamcast Hallmark ornament. The item purchased arrived as described with appropriate packaging material to ensure its safe arrival. Item was new in its original box. I feel the price was very reasonable. I can’t wait to hang this on our tree this season along with the other ornaments I have of this series. Thank you for your timely shipping.

  • Movie better!

Great movie! Not so great book...… I purchased this book as I thought the book would be better than the movie. Wrong! The movie is perfect in every way. The book spends much time on the mechanics of defusing bombs and almost nothing on the sensuousness of the ill-fated couple. The book would be more enjoyed by men, I believe, as it explains many interesting things about the desert, etc. The author spend hours and hours researching before writing the book, and it shows.
