As the eighth installment in the popular "Wolfenstein" series of video games, this version had a release date of 2009. The game was developed by Raven Software and published by Activision as a sequel to the 2001 game "Return to Castle Wolfenstein (RTCW)." "Wolfenstein" takes the player into battle against hordes of Nazis seeking to dominate the world. It’s a classic among first-person shooter video games that takes players through intense combat and paranormal encounters. In this alternate history, players must use everything they have while engaging in a high-stakes struggle to defeat the megalomaniacal denizens of the Third Reich.Set in 1945, "Wolfenstein" puts the player in the shoes of William Joseph “B.J.” Blazkowicz, the common protagonist of the series. B.J. Blazkowicz is a Polish-American spy who acts as a one-man army on behalf of the Allied Powers in the Second World War. At the beginning of the story, he’s ordered to deploy to a German city named Isenstadt that is occupied by the Nazis. Run by the evil General Deathshead, the fascist army is running experiments concerning access to the Black Sun Dimension. Known as the Veil, this parallel world is a source of energy and superpowers that can only be accessed by utilizing the Nachtsonne crystals unique to Isenstadt. Having acquired a Thule Medallion that can access the Veil, B.J. travels to the occupied city in order to uncover and thwart whatever nefarious plans that Deathshead and his Nazi army have in mind.To power its impressive graphics, unique textures, and intense action, "Wolfenstein" utilizes the id Tech 5 engine developed by id Software. The game efficiently uses compatible software and hardware to provide for a smooth FPS experience unhindered by low frame rates or lag. Throughout the game, players play as B.J. while he rampages through fascist opposition with a wide variety of weapons. Guns like the classic MP-40, a flamethrower, and wonder weapons like the Tesla gun and Leichenfaust 44 are available for the purposes of bloody suppression. Side mission games are plentiful for extended gameplay, and players can search for and collect gold to upgrade their weaponry as desired. Going beyond traditional gun battles, the game offers players the opportunity to enhance their paranormal skills in the Veil. Combining these supernatural abilities with powerful weaponry gives players the ability to annihilate wave after wave of fascists.With immersive cut-scene videos and consistently intense combat sequences, "Wolfenstein" offers players the chance to blow the Third Reich away with high-powered weaponry and special paranormal abilities. Blood will flow in both the single-player and multiplayer modes as the player storms Castle Wolfenstein, a massive Zeppelin blimp, and a wide variety of other locations. Gaming enthusiasts and fans of the genre will be pleased by this installation. The PC version of "Wolfenstein" is a great title for gamers looking for an action-packed first-person shooter experience that keeps the thrills coming level after level.

    Awesome game with unfortunate compatibility issues. (Wolfenstein 2009)

    I absolutely love Wolfenstein 2009, don't care much for Left 4 Dead 2, I was really exited to finally be able to play it on PC but it unfortunately came up with an error message saying "A required security module could not be activated, this program cannot be executed" once the game was installed. This game is extremely good game play,story and graphics wise (for it's time) but is poorly optimised for modern gaming machines. If Activision didn't optomise the game so poorly, it would easily be a 5 star review for me.

    A must for Wolfenstein enthusiasts

    RTCW will always be #1. This now #2 favorite easily. New order,oldblood and colossus were very fun, but too environment structured and linear for my liking. Retro playing this was worth it to recapture the open environments this series once had. If your into RPG, then get ready for a blast. Some canon and character issues, but who cares. Game play was solid throughout. If your PC version has some crashes, the patch 1.2 fixed it right up.

    Ain't no Wolfenstein Old Blood!!

    What a difference a few years makes. If you, like I, played the recent Wolfensteins, you will find this somewhat more primitive. It lacks all the hidden treasure, the room to take alternate tangents, etc. But if you enjoy the genre' and have to play them all, set aside a few hours and clean up more of those bad guys.

    still a great game and had to do a work around to play. on win10 x64, I7, 1080 graphics cards

    For an older game, this is still good enough to play in 2018. With some mod's it helps a little. I have New Order and Old Blood. You will have a slow time to install this game and the only way I could play it was to use a crack (or NO CD..) Other then this it's a good game for the series. I remember the first game that started it all. This game can run on windows 10 x64, June 2018 with a Core I7, Nvidia 1080.

    In Very Good Shape.

    This game is hard to come by so I was thrilled that I could actually get my hands on one to add to my collection. I examined it carefully and it doesn't appear to have any scratches. Further, it seems to be in very good condition. Very pleased.
