Mina's friend Lucy (Sadie Frost) succumbs to the deadly bite of Dracula while Renfield (Tom Waits), locked in an asylum, eagerly waits for his master's return. Mina's fiancé, Jonathan Harker (Keanu Reeves), with the help of the eccentric Professor Van Helsing (Anthony Hopkins), attempts to save Mina's life and soul before she can become Dracula's eternal bride.After Dracula attacks Mina's friend Lucy (Sadie Frost), Dr. Jack Seward (Richard E. Grant) calls in the legendary Professor Van Helsing (Anthony Hopkins) to cure Lucy's "disease of the blood." Jonathan escapes from the castle and he and Mina are married while Lucy dies and is resurrected as a vampire. When Dracula appears to Mina in her sleep, she declares her undying love for him. Professor Van Helsing, Jack Seward, and Lucy's fiancé, Arthur Holmwood (Cary Elwes), join Jonathan and travel to Transylvania to destroy Dracula, but Mina tries to save her tortured lover.Musician Tom Waits appears in the film as Renfield, a Victorian lunatic singing the praises of Dracula. Ornate costume design and lighting awash in shades of blood make this film a seductive and scary must-see. In his version of the oft-told tale, Francis Ford Coppola takes Bram Stoker's archetypical horror story and accentuates the romantic angle. Blood still flows in large amounts, and Coppola opted to do all the eye-pleasing visual effects in-camera, utilizing shadow puppets, smoke, miniatures, and other time-honored tricks of the trade--creating a visual style not unlike that of a storybook come to life.

    Hi I purchased this baby bike seat for $30.31 with shipping included thinking what a great deal. The seller shipped the items to me but charged an extra $78 to pay to recieve the item. I refused the item sent it back then told the seller I still wanted the bike seat even though the underestimated how much shipping would cost. I told him it’s not my fault that you under charged the shipping and I still wanted the items even if you have to ship it at your expense for more. He ended up just refundi

    Coppola's Dracula

    I enjoyed that Coppola's Dracula is based on the historical figure of Vlad Tepes of Wallachia and not the romanticized version. This is the first Dracula movie I watch and it's very theatrical and flashy just as the vampires are! It stays close to the book with the added historical background to humanize Dracula, which is not written like this in Stoker's work. It was a pleasant change. The themes around female sexuality explored in this time period became more apparent in this movie than in the book. Honestly, I'm glad it got explored since that's part of Dracula's allure to the characters in the story. I saw this movie and thought, wow, i was not expecting it to be this erotic haha!

    Best Love Story since 1965 SHE.

    Very Gothic Love strory. Beautiful and haunting. Love Song for a Vampire by Annie Lenox always brings tears to my eyes because it's soooo intensely emotional and deep. This is one of my all-time favorite romantic movies. A must read is: Clearomonde, by Theophile Gautier, the ORIGINAL SOURCE of Gothic horror and super natural romantic themes!!

    get it on blu-ray

    Not the greatest movie ever made, but may be the most sumptuous. Gorgeous on blu-ray. Colorful, stylized, elegant design and costumes, beautiful photography. Keanu Reeves is a bit wooden, but his character is rather supposed to be. I knew all this going in, so I was not disappointed. Tom Waits is great as the insect-eating Renfield. Fun.

    Bram Stokers Dracula lives on Blu Ray

    I saw this movie in the theater when I was 13 and have loved it ever since. Looks great sounds great.

    Book turned into a movie that should be remade

    Although this is a blue ray dvd, the movie quality itself is outdated and should be remade. I wouldn't recommend purchasing this movie in blue ray quality because it doesn't make a difference. Just save your money and get a cheap old fashioned dvd.
