Mike McClintock is the author of the Beginner Books classics Stop That Ball! and A Fly Went by, which was edited by Dr. Seuss. Fritz Siebel was born in 1913 in Vienna, Austria. He studied illustration at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna and immigrated to the United States in 1936, where he served in the US Army during World War II.

A lovely children’s book
The original copy of this book, in our family, was read by my father in law to my husband and his siblings as a child, and then by my father in law to my own children and their cousins. When it became tatty, and after my father in law died, we purchased a new copy to read to our own grandchildren, even though we could recite it word perfectly. This most newly purchased copy has been purchased to give to a nephew .... one of those cousins who learnt the story at his grandfather’s knee.....to read to his new baby, our great nephew. I am sure they will enjoy sharing it. The rhyme is simple, sweet, engaging and easy to read and to learn. The pictures are rather sweet too. The entire book holds really precious memories for us all.
