  • Required reference if serious about building a blues collection

Having enjoyed the Penguin Guide to Jazz, I was hoping thered be a guide for the Blues recordings too, and this did not let down. Although cd's are the medium the book reviews primarily, the albums are still mostly the same, and the cross-references and insight make building a blues collection 'easier' and more fruitful. I will say this though - you can expect to spend a bit of money on the library that you will want to assemble, because you will actually go searching for specific titles once you get into it. Very well worth getting a copy - and if you can find an ex-library copy you will save a few bucks. Never mind the minor wear and tear - you're going to add your own wear and tear quickly anyway. A must have for anyone contemplating building even a modest library of 100-200 albums..... you will wonder how you got by without it.
