How a mother can help her boy stop the ravages of oblivion; and maybe get a head- or six.
"Trophy Heads": is a very low budget film. It does not have great F/X, but they're not terrible. For the most part the acting was less then stellar. The concept is pretty decent. Probably the script should have been re-written. Most, if not all, cussing was unnecessary and forced. [In "Midnight Run", Robert DeNiro's cussing was needed for his character. But it did not work for any character in "Trophy Heads"]
PLOT: A guy in his Mom's basement comes up with an idea. An idea that only makes sense- to him and his Mom- because he's psychotic. It goes something like this- "Gee, I love these old 'scream queen' films; but like the VHS tape that they are recorded on, they are fading into oblivion. I'll remake my vision of these queens and their movies. That way they'll be remembered and live on forever." My Mom will help me, I'll use my taxidermy skills to preserve their heads, and then I'll turn those heads into collector sets." [A nice touch is that in his insanity the heads speak to him.]
Over-all, "Trophy Heads" is a low-budget, fun movie. "Trophy Heads" is not worth bumping a movie that you really want to see; but it is very fun to watch and it's nice to see some of the old scream queens. "Trophy Heads", also, shows the ravages of age on the human body. It's worth $5.oo or $6.oo at most- that's why I wrote that it's not a good value. I'm glad that I finally got this but I paid more then I should have.
