    Smooth Cruisin'

    Primary Chains have uneven rotation and Hayden Tensioners are able to control most of the erratic cycle, gearing up & down; as well as, cruising along. I've been using them for years in different models with great success. With anything mechanical, it is important to understand the operation, use quality parts and follow instructions.

    Great primary chain tensioner from Hayden Enterprises.

    I read reviews stating this primary chain tensioner was noisy until it is broken in. I didn't have any initial noise from the chain case. I put about 50 miles on it, and then it had a little noise. The tensioner did nothing for the starter operation, nor the clunk when shifting into 1st gear. The chain is now at the required adjustment. This primary chain tensioner works very well with my primary chains operation. I use high quality primary chain oil in my Harley that has worked very well for the past 40,000 miles. I didn't need any of the included shims to get the correct measurement. I highly recommend installing this adjuster since it keeps the right amount of tension on the primary chain. This tensioner should allow the bearings involved with the primary chain to last a lot longer.

    Should be an OEM Part

    I have installed the Hayden primary chain tensioner on both of my Harleys ('15 FLHR, '16 FLTRXS). It keeps the chain properly tensioned throughout it's rotation and never allows it to get too tight - which would cause bearing damage. Besides, it REALLY quiets down primary and tranny noise. Straightforward installation and one of the best improvements you can do to the bike.

    Hayden primary chain tensioner

    the machining on the metal parts is of poor quality. Machine and burn marks all over as well as the fact that the shims that were supplied don't fit. I will have to file down The Shims, maybe only about .005", but that's not the point. I know that this tensioner is a good upgrade & works well but I'm still really disappointed with the quality considering its cost.

    So far ok

    Heavy duty bracket, but had to file on it to get the shoe in place and where it would slide up & down. Also the shimms need filing but didn't need them, maybe after a bunch of miles, will worry about it then. I have low milage so ended up with 1/4" gap which is ok. I found out some people are setting it at that instead of 3/8" recomended.
