On second look I think this is better then the original.
I just recently saw this again. So I bought the DVD. I suppose this is one of those remakes that you originally don't like because you remember the first one. The first one wasn't bad and is worth seeing. But on watching the remake the second time I was not influenced by the original. And so now I feel that the remake is the better of the two. This is a high quality film throughout. There are better vampire films: "30 Days of Night", the first 3/4 of "Children of the Night", and I liked the old Universal "Dracula" with Bela Lugosi. Plot: A vampire moves to modern day Las Vegas because lots of late night activity and people stay there and then leave. Less likely to be missed. The vampire moves into a nice suburb next door to teenager Charlie. A friend of Charlie notices odd things in the neighborhood. They were once friend but Charlie started ghosting him. He works on getting Charlie to look into the vampire neighbor. Finally Charlie believes and has to find a way to battle the vampire. There are a number of other important characters that you'll get to know in this film. It's a nice film worth watching.
