    Informative book, but only a small portion dedicated to plague

    Look, it's an informative book, and the author did his research. I was a bit disappointed however as this is a 315 page book, and it doesn't even go into the plague aspect until about page 200 or so. Most of the book is just a history of Eastern Rome, and it bounces from one subject to another in rapid succession, making it a bit difficult to follow along in the beginning. There are a couple of battles and events where the author does go into more detail, and these parts of the book are pretty fascinating. Overall I give this book one thumbs up.
