Overlooked, underrated, out of print
Game & Wario was one of the early Wii U titles that slipped under the radar, and has long been overshadowed by more recent classics for the system like Splatoon, Smash Bros, and Mario Kart 8. The game makes full use of the Wii U Gamepad (the game is basically unplayable without it), much more so than pretty much every other Wii U game. Starring Mario's mischievous rival Wario, the game is different from other WarioWare titles in that it contains true minigames with levels and advancement instead of microgames only a few seconds long. Some of the minigames are outstanding ("Shutter" with Mona), while others are average ("Ski" with Jimmy) and there are a few duds ("Taxi" with its quirky controls and super-aggressive enemies). But there is a lot of variety and replayability here, especially for what the game's current market price (I paid $35 for a brand new sealed copy here on eBay in fall 2015). Since the game has been out of print for well over a year now I'd expect copies of this game to become more scarce over time. If you love the Wii U Gamepad and want a game that gets the most out of this unique device, Game & Wario will leave you smiling for days.
